What is Pelvic health Physiotherapy?

Here at ReformPhysio & Pilates, we offer Pelvic Health Physiotherapy, but what is it?

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy involves the assessment and treatment of a number of conditions. Including:

Stress incontinence:

The involuntary leaking of urine with increased abdominal pressure eg cough/sneeze, exercise

Urgency:

Sudden need to go to the bathroom for a wee or poo eg sudden need to pee when you put the key in the lock

Urge incontinence:

As above, but sometimes you can't make it to the toilet in time and leak wee or poo.

Prolapse:

The downward movement of one or more of the vaginal walls. This can create a feeling of heaviness in the pelvic region.

Incomplete emptying:

You may leak a few drops of urine when you stand up from the toilet or feel you have to return to wee or poo again quickly. You may also feel like you can't clean your bottom properly after a poo

Difficulty controlling gas:

Exactly as it says, sometimes you just can't stop those farts, even if you try.

Pelvic girdle pain:

Often felt during pregnancy or in relation to pregnancy, this can include pain in the low back, hips or pubic region

Painful sex:

There can be lots of reasons for painful sex, but it absolutely isn't 'normal' and can be something that Physiotherapy can help
