Aberdeen's Mummy MOT team

Following on from our last blog, now seems like a great time to introduce you to our Mummy MOT team.

Physiotherapist Laura Patterson

Laura has been carrying out Mummy MOT’s since 2020. Laura also has qualifications in pelvic floor muscle assessment and musculoskeletal conditions of pregnancy/postnatal training but felt that the Mummy MOT was the icing on the cake in the provision of postnatal care.

After many years of work as a musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, including work with elite athletes, Laura developed a passion for post natal rehabilitation following her own experiences of recovery after the birth of her two children.

Laura loves applying her Physiotherapy knowledge to ensure women feel empowered and educated to achieve their postnatal goals, whether that be returning to day to day activities or elite sports.

Physiotherapist Heather scott

Since having her two children and experiencing the Mummy MOT herself, Heather developed a keen interest in pelvic health physiotherapy. This led her to complete formalised pelvic health training in:

  • Assessment and treatment of female urinary incontinence (POGP)

  • Mummy MOT (certified practitioner)

  • Physiotherapy for Rectus abdominus (Diastasis Revolution)

  • Menopause MOT

  • Pelvic Health Physiotherapy: Lower bowel dysfunction (POGP)

Heather is in clinic with us in Cults every Thursday.

When not at work, Heather can be found taking care of her two young children, cycling, hillwalking or doing yoga.

Physiotherapist Fiona Morris

Following the birth of her daughter in 2013, whilst living in Denmark,  Fiona developed an interest in women’s health, particularly in the pregnancy and postpartum periods. This led to Fiona launching FitMums in Denmark. Fiona provided specialist pregnancy and postnatal exercise and education classes as well as a support network for new mums.

Since returning to the UK in June 2018 Fiona’s main focus became helping women to safely return to exercise and achieve their fitness goals postpartum whether that be to run a marathon or simply to be able to play with their baby or children without pain or limitations.

Fiona divides her working time between the NHS and private practice.

Fiona is officially one of the busiest people we know, keeping busy with family life, a dog, exercise and is an active member of her local community.

Fiona currently runs Saturday clinics with us in Cults.
