It’s no secret that at ReformPhysio & Pilates we love the Reformers and want to be able to share its benefits with as many of you as possible and are making some big changes to how we run our Beginner’s sessions … which we think you will love!
The Level 1 Beginners class is where your Reformer Pilates journey begins, whether you are a total newbie, a returning Reformer, recovering from an injury (GP and physio-approved for exercise of course) or just want to try it out after years of matwork Pilates.
Reformers are more popular than Taylor Swift!
We are so grateful and excited by the ongoing interest in our Reformer Pilates classes, launching the last round of Beginner sessions felt like booking tickets for the Taylor Swift Eras tour and sold out immediately! And we know it can be really tricky for people to attend 4 consecutive weeks of classes too.
So the Reform Pilates Instructor team created a new system allowing a more flexible model that allows for more of you to join in and more of you to attend classes. Not more numbers in a class though, as there are 6 Reformers in the studio, but more opportunity for you to attend a Level 1 Beginners class!
New Reformer Beginners Classes in Aberdeen.
Our new Level 1 Beginners sessions will be available to book from Monday 7th August with classes starting the week of 21st August. If you aren’t already registered with our system, you can do that here first.
What’s the difference between Level 1 Beginners and Level 2 or 3?
In level 1 classes we will familiarise you with the Reformer itself and will teach you how to apply the foundations of Pilates to dynamic exercise against resistance, using the many different positions on and around the Reformer.
Level 1 Beginner Reformer. Here, movements are practised against varying tensions created by the springs, to either support or build control and then strength and the aim is to build a new level of body and movement awareness which you can carry positively into everyday life.
Level 2 classes are for those with a good understanding and control of movement on the reformer. We use a larger range of exercises and have more streamlined transitions between movements.
Level 3 classes require a good level of fitness and strength and are a great progressions for those experience in Reformer Pilates and keen to move to a higher level of strength, control and balance.
Who can attend the Level 1 Beginners Reformer classes?
These classes are aimed at anyone new to Reformer Pilates. You don’t have to have any mat pilates experience, although you may find this helps you to move up through the levels a little faster.
The Level 1 Beginners sessions will also be a great place for those returning to class after a break or injury.
How do I book my class?
You can book your Level 1 Beginners classes from Monday 7th August using our booking app - find it here.
When you download the app, ensure you allow push notifications and when you use the waiting list function for a class, you will receive notifications when a spot becomes available.
Classes can be booked and paid for individually or in a pack of 6 classes for a reduced price.
If you purchase a 6 class pass you must choose the 6 classes you wish to attend, you won’t automatically be added into 6 classes at the same day/time.
What if the class I want is fully booked?
Each class will have its own waiting list, you can sign up for this and you will be notified when a spot becomes available - this works, we promise, so make sure to use the waiting list feature.
How long will I stay at Level 1 for?
This will be up to you and your instructor. We are all different and for some people this may be longer than others. Our classes are small and intimate with 6 Reformers in the studio so there is plenty of opportunity to talk to your instructor about your progress and goals too.
Can I come to Beginners class if I have an injury?
If you are new to Reformers and an existing injury, we would suggest that you make a Physiotherapy appointment before attending the class. You can make an appointment with one of our experienced Physiotherapists here. If you have been recommended our classes by a physiotherapist or your GP, please get in touch and we can advise.
Can I join if I’m pregnant?
At ReformPhysio & Pilates we have designated Pregnancy and Postnatal Reformer Classes and you can find out more about those here.
