Happy Birthday to us!
Happy New Year!!
As we move into 2022, it’s also our second birthday, which seems like a great time to recap who we are and what we’re all about.
I (Laura Patterson) launched ReformPhysio & Pilates in Jan 2020 as with the goal of bringing ReformerPilates classes to Aberdeen as well as providing excellence in Physiotherapy care. Moving into our new home in Cults in August 2021 saw the vision of a modern Physiotherapy clinic and Reformer studio come to fruition.
With a lengthy background in Musculoskeletal (MSK) and sports Physiotherapy I began to expand my scope of practice into Pelvic Health Physiotherapy after the birth of my first child seven years ago. I am passionate about the provision of Pelvic Health Physiotherapy and am delighted to be joined in Clinic by Physiotherapists Kate Garden and Heather Scott, who also share this passion/knowledge. While we are all skilled in the treatment of Pregnancy/Postnatal/Pelvic health conditions, we all have substantial backgrounds in Msk Physiotherapy and continue to work in this area.
Our Reformer Pilates classes continue to prove really popular, if you haven’t tried it maybe now is the time!
I would like to thank everyone that has visited us for Physiotherapy, Mummy MOT or Pilates class over the last two years. If you haven’t been to see us, remember us and hopefully we’ll see you in class or clinic soon.

What is Pelvic health Physiotherapy?
Here at ReformPhysio & Pilates, we offer Pelvic Health Physiotherapy, but what is it?
Pelvic Health Physiotherapy involves the assessment and treatment of a number of conditions. Including:
Stress incontinence:
The involuntary leaking of urine with increased abdominal pressure eg cough/sneeze, exercise
Urgency:
Sudden need to go to the bathroom for a wee or poo eg sudden need to pee when you put the key in the lock
Urge incontinence:
As above, but sometimes you can't make it to the toilet in time and leak wee or poo.
Prolapse:
The downward movement of one or more of the vaginal walls. This can create a feeling of heaviness in the pelvic region.
Incomplete emptying:
You may leak a few drops of urine when you stand up from the toilet or feel you have to return to wee or poo again quickly. You may also feel like you can't clean your bottom properly after a poo
Difficulty controlling gas:
Exactly as it says, sometimes you just can't stop those farts, even if you try.
Pelvic girdle pain:
Often felt during pregnancy or in relation to pregnancy, this can include pain in the low back, hips or pubic region
Painful sex:
There can be lots of reasons for painful sex, but it absolutely isn't 'normal' and can be something that Physiotherapy can help
If you would like to book in for a Pelvic Health Physiotherapy appointment, you can do so here. Heather, Kate and Laura all carry out Pelvic Health Physiotherapy appointments.
Have you seen us in the press?
We’re a little bit excited here today!
We opened a copy of Trend magazine to find ourselves shouted out on Page 10 in a feature about Pilates and Yoga. How exciting!
We have classes to suit all levels and can do 1;1 or small group classes too on the mat or reformer.
If you have been thinking about pilates, or would like to build more mobility, strength, flexibility and core work into your week then have a look at our classes and i’m sure you’ll find one to suit.

if the answer to any of these is yes, then we have a class for you! Lynn’s Beginners and Pilates for all classes start this week and have availability. We would love to see you on a mat!
Check out the timetable below and book your mat here.
Big clinic update
Gosh, it feels like there’s alot to say all of a sudden!
Lynn Ross is coming on board to teach Mat Pilates on Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays. With a strong background in the fitness industry, Lynn brings a wealth of fitness experience into her Pilates class teaching. I can’t wait to try one of her classes. You can find out more about Lynn in the ‘Team’ section.
Speaking of classes, the timetable is now here for Pilates classes. There is a wee typo, the Tuesday reformer class is 50mins, not 1hr 20! The live timetable and availability can be found here.
And finally, after what feels like a very long wait four shiny new Reformers arrived into clinic on Friday. I had forgotten how much building was involved, but after much effort they are now in place and ready to welcome you into a class.
